TROOP C NEWS RELEASE September 6, 2016 Louisiana State Police Seeks Assistance from the Public in Cold Case Homicide Houma, LA - Louisiana State Police investigators have recently reopened an investigation and are currently following new leads to help solve a 27 year old cold case homicide. Between the hours of 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. on June 15, 1989, Gerald E. Daigle, the owner of Standard Furniture Company located at 300 Belanger St. in Houma, was discovered suffering from multiple stab wounds. Mr. Daigle was pronounced dead at the scene from those injuries. During the course of the original investigation, no viable suspects in the homicide were identified. The Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division (CID), partnered with local law enforcement agencies, is committed to investigating cold case homicides in an attempt to bring closure to the families of the victims. LSP asks that anyone that has any information pertaining to the 1989 homicide of Mr. Daigle, regardless of how minor or insignificant they believe it to be, are asked to contact the LSP-CID/Houma office at 985-876-8834 (Ext 202).
