TROOP C NEWS RELEASE September 20, 2016 Louisiana State Police Partners with Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies to Combat Criminal Activity Houma, LA - During September 2016, LSP detectives partnered with the Terrebonne Parish Narcotics Task Force, Houma Police Department Narcotics Division, Terrebonne Parish District Attorney’s Office, US Homeland Security Investigations-Houma Office, and Louisiana Probation and Parole to identify and target criminal activity in Terrebonne Parish. The multi-agency partnership was nicknamed “Operation Carpe Platearum” (Seize the Streets). The operation was in response to an increase in gun violence occurring in different areas of the parish. During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify and arrest twenty-nine violators for various drug and weapons charges. Investigators used a combination of street level enforcement, undercover operations and fugitive warrant services to identify and arrest violators. The operation was conducted over a four day period. Twenty nine (29) violators were arrested, eighteen (18) of those for various felonies. Investigators also seized approximately 388 grams of marijuana, 6 grams of crack cocaine, 5 grams of heroin, 82 dosage units of various prescription pills, 6 firearms, and $6,040. Two of the firearms were reported stolen, and one was a sawed-off shotgun. Additional operations targeting criminal activity are planned. The public plays an important role in identifying suspects and are urged to report any criminal or suspicious activity.
