| TROOP C NEWS RELEASE April 25, 2017 Lafourche Parish Crash Takes the Life of Marrero Man Raceland, LA – Shortly before 7:00 am this morning, Troopers with Troop C responded to a single vehicle fatality crash on LA 182 near the Raceland Sugar Mill. The crash took the life of 22 year old Kenneth Anderson of Marrero, LA. The preliminary investigation showed that Anderson was traveling westbound on LA 182 in a 2012 Chevrolet Impala. For reasons still under investigation, he ran off of the roadway to the right as he entered a left curve. Anderson overcorrected to the left, lost control of his vehicle, and traveled off of the roadway to the left. Anderson’s vehicle struck a cement drainage culvert and he sustained fatal injuries despite being properly restrained. He was pronounced deceased by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol and drug involvement is unknown at this time and standard toxicology tests are pending. Troopers want to remind the public to avoid distracted driving and always buckle up. While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night.
