TROOP C NEWS RELEASE April 15, 2017 Two People Killed in Terrebonne Parish Crash Dulac, LA – Shortly before 3:30 am on April 15, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 57 near Dulac, LA in Terrebonne Parish. The initial investigation by State Police revealed a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer was being driven northbound on LA 57, and was exiting a slight right curve. For unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off of the left side of the roadway, and struck a concrete foundation, trapping both the driver and passenger in the vehicle. Although the driver of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, the driver sustained fatal injuries. The passenger of the vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries. Both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead on scene. Impairment is unknown at this time, and toxicology samples were taken from the driver, the results of which are pending. As of now, Troopers have not made next of kin notification. This crash remains under investigation. Inattentive and distracted driving continues to be leading causes of crashes in our state.
