Donaldsonville Motorcyclist Killed in Assumption Parish Crash

Belle Rose, LA – Shortly after 12:30 this afternoon, Troop C was advised of a serious injury crash on LA 1 at the intersection with LA Spur 70. The crash would take the life of 54 year old Gregory Brown of Donaldsonville, LA.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 GMC Sierra was being driven west on LA Spur 70 by 41 year old Roland Boudreaux of Gonzales, LA. Brown was traveling north on LA 1 in the outside lane on a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle. As Brown approached the intersection with Spur 70, Boudreaux pulled out in front of him while attempting to make a left turn onto LA 1. Brown struck the rear of Boudreaux’s vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to the Assumption Community Hospital by Acadian Ambulance Air Med. Brown later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Boudreaux and his wife who was the front seat passenger, 40 year old Jeanne Boudreaux, sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment on scene. They were both properly restrained at the time of the crash. Brown was wearing a non DOT approved helmet.

Alcohol and drug use is not suspected as a factor in the crash; however, standard toxicology tests are pending on the part of Brown. Boudreaux submitted a breath sample which showed no alcohol present.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to remind all drivers to look twice for motorcycles while traveling on the roadways. We also encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur. Making good choices while riding a motorcycle, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death.
