| TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE January 10, 2016 Two Dead in Lafourche Parish Motorcycle Crash Valentine, LA- Shortly before 11 pm yesterday evening, a 51 year old Larose man and a 48 year old Larose woman were killed on LA 308 after a motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve and struck a utility pole. The investigation revealed that a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on LA 308, near Emile Drive, in Lafourche Parish. The motorcycle was being driven by Scott Faulk, (W/M age 51) of Larose, LA. The motorcycle failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. The Harley traveled off the right side of the roadway, where it struck a utility pole and ejected both occupants. The rear passenger on the Harley was Dawn Mackey, (W/F age 48) of Larose, LA. Faulk and Mackey, who were both wearing US D.O.T. helmets, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers remind motorists of the dangers of impaired driving. Never get behind the wheel of a vehicle or drive a motorcycle if you have had any alcohol to drink. Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts decrease your risk of serious injury or death. | |||
