Unrestrained Driver Killed and Passenger Injured in Lafourche Parish Crash

Thibodaux, LA- Shortly before 2:30 am this morning, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a fatality crash that claimed the life of a 19 year old Larose man on LA 308 in Lafourche Parish.

The investigation revealed that a 2010 Lexus IS 250 was traveling south on LA 308, just north of the St. Charles Bypass Road. The Lexus was being driven by Cody Duet (W/M age 19) of Larose, LA. For unknown reasons, the Lexus traveled off the right side of the roadway as it exited a left hand curve on LA 308. After leaving the roadway, the Lexus struck a ditch and rolled over. Duet, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. The front seat passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries

Impairment is unknown at this time, and routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.


While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.




Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
