For Immediate Release First Fatality Crash of 2008 in Troop C Area January 1, 2008 At approximately 12 noon on January 1, 2008, a two vehicle crash on US 90 five tenths of a mile east of LA 653 in Lafourche Parish claimed the life of a Broussard woman. A 1997 Ford Taurus, driven by Jason Written, 38, of Patterson, LA, was traveling west on US 90. For unknown reasons, the Taurus traveled off of the road to the left into the median. The Taurus then traveled through the median and started to rotate in a counter-clockwise manner. It then entered the eastbound lanes of US 90 where it struck a 2007 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Carrie Judice, 49, of Broussard, LA. After the impact, the Taurus overturned and came to rest partially in the eastbound lane and shoulder. The Toyota also overturned and came to rest on its four tires on the outside eastbound shoulder. Jason Written was transported to St. Anne General Hospital by Acadian Ambulance with life threatening injuries. Carrie Judice was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital by Acadian Ambulance with life threatening injuries. Judice's passenger, Mark Judice (husband), suffered minor injuries and was also transported to Terrebonne General Hospital by Acadian Ambulance. Carrie Judice later died at approximately 3:30 pm at Terrebonne General Hospital. All drivers and occucpants were wearing seat belts. Alcohol/drug use is unknown at this time; however, blood has been taken from both drivers and was sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Results are pending. Tpr.
