Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 20, 2011 **Special Event** Child Safety Seat Installations and Inspections Troop B – On Wednesday, May 25, 2011, from 1PM – 4PM, Louisiana State Police Troop B and the Interim LSU Public Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center will be holding their weekly Child Safety Seat Fitting Station at Troop B with the help of thirty (30) statewide technicians. The abundance of technicians is related to training on the new recommendations set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding children in child safety seats. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children. Louisiana State Law requires the driver of a motor vehicle to ensure that EVERY child under the age of thirteen years in a motor vehicle equipped with safety belts is properly secured, regardless of seating position in the vehicle. Many deaths and injuries can be prevented by properly using child safety seats. 96% of child safety seats are installed improperly. Please visit Troop B on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, and speak with a technician that will show the parent/caregiver how to properly install the child restraint and ensure that the child is in the appropriate age/weight child seat.
