Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 15, 2011 Fatal Motorcycle Crash in St. Bernard Parish Troop B – This morning, shortly after midnight, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 46 (St. Bernard Highway) at Gibbs Drive in Chalmette, LA. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R 600 motorcycle, driven by Justin P. Hanna (W/M, age 21) of Chalmette, LA, was traveling east on LA 46 at a high rate of speed, approaching Gibbs Drive, where traffic was stopped at a red signal light. As Hanna applied the motorcycle’s brakes, he lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. Hanna’s body struck a 2003 Nissan 350, driven by Ryan Ajan (W/M, age 27) of Meraux, LA, who was stopped at the red signal light. Hanna was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed is a factor of the crash and impairment is unknown, pending an autopsy. Hanna was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash.
