Edmonson, Superintendent Troop B - NEWS RELEASE September 23, 2011 Child Safety Seat Installation Station Saturday, September 24 Troop B - Research shows car seats save lives when installed correctly and children are properly buckled. When properly installed and used they can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for children younger than one year old and by 54 percent for children between 1 and 4 years old. Unfortunately, nearly three out of four car seats are not used properly. During Child Passenger Safety Week (September 18-24, 2011), Louisiana State Police would like to remind and encourage all parents and caregivers to take advantage of child safety seat check events taking place statewide on Saturday, September 24, 2011 to ensure that their children are getting the very best protection. Nationally certified child safety seat technicians will be available on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 9AM-12PM at the LSU Community Clinic, LB Landry High School, 1200 LB Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114. No appointments are necessary and there is no cost for child seat installations/inspections. Please allow approximately 30 minutes for the technician to install your child safety seat. Demonstrations and extra educational material will be provided. If you are unable to visit the inspection station tomorrow, Troop B is a child seat inspection/fitting station. Anyone needing assistance can visit Troop B every Wednesday from 1PM – 4PM. No appointments are necessary.
