Louisiana State Police and New Orleans Police Department Partner Together for Speed Enforcement

Troop B – Louisiana State Police Air Support and Troop B are partnering together with the New Orleans Police Department in an effort to decrease injury and fatality crashes due to hazardous traffic violations in New Orleans East. This combined effort will begin in the near future and the LSP Air Support Division will be patrolling I-10 from the sky.

The speed limit in New Orleans East from the Twin Spans (mile post 254.2) to I-510 (mile post 247.6) is 70 MPH. The limit is reduced at I-510 to 60 MPH and continues through the city. Motorists need to remain vigilant of the speed limit and pay attention to the roadway. “Our job is to maintain safety on Louisiana’s roadways,” said Captain Carl Saizan, Commander of Troop B. “Speeding can cause crashes and these crashes are preventable. Troopers will be enforcing the laws to save lives and prevent injuries. Make the right decisions while you are behind the wheel, obey the laws, buckle up and drive sober.”

Motorists that witness hazardous situations and possibly impaired drivers are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
