| TROOP B NEWS RELEASE February 7th, 2012 “Consequences of Impact”-Mock Crash held for Parents at Jesuit High School Troop B- On Wednesday, February 8, 2012, students from Jesuit High School will participate in “Consequences of Impact”, a mock fatality crash involving impaired driving. The presentation will take place at 7:00 PM at Jesuit High School, located at 4133 Banks Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Students involved will act out a fatal crash scenario in front of their parents portraying how drinking, driving, and destructive decisions have far reaching consequences. During the mock crash, parents will be reminded of the importance of parental monitoring, which if used properly, results in a teenager’s ability to make good decisions and refrain from risky behaviors. Parents of the student role players will also be playing parts in the scenario. Intentionally scheduled prior to Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, spring break, and prom season, the “Consequences of Impact” mock crash is designed to emphasize the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving, the importance of seat belt use, and the emotional suffering families endure when a fatal crash occurs in reality. Numerous state and local agencies will be providing their expertise to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Interim LSU Public Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center, Louisiana State Police, New Orleans EMS, and the New Orleans Coroner’s Office will also participate in the scenario. Personnel from each agency will be available for comments and questions at the conclusion of the event.
