Troop B - NEWS RELEASE Woman Killed in Crash on Causeway Boulevard Troop B – This morning, shortly before 8:00 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 3046 (Causeway Boulevard) north near Bore Street in Jefferson Parish. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Chevrolet Lumina, driven by Valerie Ross (B/F, age 45) of Jefferson, LA, was traveling north on LA 3046 and, for unknown reasons, traveled off the road to the left and stuck a large tree. The Lumina then re-entered the left lane of LA 3046 north and struck a 2005 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by Jennifer Hebert (W/F, age 32) of Spring, TX and a 2008 Nissan Altima, driven by Alfred Lundy (B/M, age 29) of Kenner, LA, that were stopped in traffic congestion. Ross was transported to the Interim LSU Public Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center and was later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the crash. There were no other injuries reported from the other drivers. Speed is believed to be a factor of the crash on the part of Ross. Toxicology tests are pending the autopsy and impairment is unknown. Ross was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Troopers continue to see fatal crashes involving people who are not buckled up. Louisiana State Police will continue to enforce the state’s seat belt laws in an effort to eliminate deaths on our highways. Impairment and lack of seat belt use are common factors in fatal crashes and account for an overwhelming majority of highway deaths. Making poor decisions in a vehicle such as driving impaired, riding with an impaired driver, or not wearing a seat belt leads to serious injuries and deaths every day across the state. Making the responsible decision can mean the difference between life and death. Contact Information: Trooper Melissa Matey | |||
