Troop B - NEWS RELEASE Louisiana State Police make Multiple Arrests Troop B – On October 17, 2011, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations arrested William Powell (W/M, age 39) of Metairie, LA on charges of Pornography Involving Juveniles. The investigation began when detectives received information that Powell was downloading graphic images at his residence. A search warrant was issued for 6701 Merle St., Metairie, LA and images indicative of child pornography were located on a laptop. Powell was arrested and booked at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. On October 21, 2011 at approximately 7:40AM, a Troop B Trooper received information that a vehicle was stopped in the left lane of I-10 west at mile post 221.2. The trooper located the vehicle stopped on I-10 and found a man, later identified as Jonathan Oney (B/M, age 26) of Laplace, LA, asleep behind the wheel of the vehicle. Verbal commands were given to Oney to exit the vehicle. Upon a pat down search of Oney, Oney attempted to retrieve a semi-automatic handgun that was concealed in his waistband. The trooper struggled with Oney and was able to gain control of the handgun. Oney was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on the following charges: DWI (2nd offense), Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway, Resisting Arrest by Force, Possession of Marijuana and Xanax (prescription narcotics), Battery of a Police Officer, Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Narcotics and a Firearm, Attempted Murder of a Police Officer and Criminal Damage to Property. On October 24, 2001, detectives arrested Deborah Navarre (W/F, age 45) of Hammond, LA, on charges Theft (totaling $42,387), Bank Fraud and Forgery. The investigation began when detectives received a complaint in conjunction with the Louisiana Electronic and Financial Crimes Task Force. Detectives found that during the period of December 2008 through April 2010, Navarre stole money from MK New Ventures, LLC by forging company checks and directly wiring company money into her personal accounts. An arrest warrant was issued and Navarre was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
