Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: April 29, 2011 Harahan Man Killed in Crash on Jefferson Highway Troop B – Last night, shortly before 8:00 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 48 east at Rex Drive. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Honda Civic, driven by Gabrielle Boudoin (W/F, age 23) of River Ridge, LA, was traveling north on Rex Drive approaching LA 48. The Honda Civic stopped at the stop sign and proceeded across LA 48 east, in an attempt to turn onto LA 48 west. As the Honda Civic crossed the left lane, it entered into the path of a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by John Estes (W/M, age 40) of Harahan, LA. Upon impact, Estes was ejected from the Harley Davidson. A non-DOT approved helmet was found at the crash scene and investigating troopers suspect that the helmet was either improperly worn or not worn at all. Estes was transported to the Interim LSU Public Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center in critical condition and was later pronounced dead from his injuries. Boudoin submitted to a breath analysis and no alcohol was found her system. Blood tests for possible impairment on Estes are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
