Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: January 17, 2011 Gretna Woman Arrested on Bank Fraud Charges Troop B – On Friday, January 14, 2011, troopers with Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations and the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Kerrol Urdaneta (B/F, age 50) of Gretna, LA, on one count of bank fraud in the amount of $16, 321.49. The arrest was the result of an investigation that began in August 2010 when detectives were contacted by Regions Bank Corporate Security regarding possible bank fraud. Detectives found that Urdaneta intentionally deposited numerous fraudulent checks from closed bank accounts into her Regions Bank account. After depositing the funds, Urdaneta systematically withdrew the funds before the checks were cleared and, as a result, Regions Bank suffered the monetary loss. An arrest warrant was issued for Urdaneta in August 2010 by the 24th Judicial District Court. She was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. Louisiana State Police Detectives are responsible for the investigation of violent crime, property crime, white collar/economic crime, identity theft, related financial crimes, and the apprehension of criminals and fugitives.
