New Orleans Man Arrested for Possession of Stolen Vehicle

Troop B – This morning, shortly after 7:00 AM, Louisiana State Troopers assigned to the Bureau of Investigations Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit received information from Lo Jack, Inc. in reference to a 2001 Pontiac Firebird that was stolen from Jefferson Parish on Monday, January 17, 2011. Detectives located the vehicle at 4638 Papania Dr., New Orleans, and obtained a search warrant. The Pontiac Firebird and numerous other stolen vehicle parts were located throughout the residence. Harry D. Johnson (B/M, age 25) of New Orleans, LA, was located in the residence and arrested for Possession of Stolen Property (4 counts) and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number. He was booked in Orleans Parish Lock-up.

Lo Jack is a stolen vehicle recovery system that consists of a small radio frequency transceiver hidden in the vehicle. The transceiver has a unique code specifically tied to that vehicle’s VIN number. When Lo Jack is activated, the transceiver sends out an inaudible signal that is automatically traced in Lo Jack equipped police units.
