Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: January 26, 2011 Chalmette Woman Arrested for Arson and Insurance Fraud Troop B – This morning, Louisiana State Police Troopers assigned to the Bureau of Investigations Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit arrested a Chalmette resident, Fredene Findorff (W/F, age 52), on charges of Arson and Insurance Fraud. The investigation began in February 2009, when detectives received a complaint from Allstate Insurance Company regarding Findorff filing a fraudulent insurance claim on her home, located in Violet, LA. Detectives found that Findorff intentionally set her house on fire and attempted to gain insurance compensation. An arrest warrant was issued and Findorff turned herself in to detectives at the St. Bernard Parish Jail. The Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit is responsible for investigating referrals of suspected fraudulent insurance acts, assisting federal and local law enforcement in the investigation of fraudulent insurance acts, cooperating with local prosecutors and the attorney general's office in the prosecution of fraudulent insurance acts, and promoting awareness of insurance fraud throughout the state.
