Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: December 2, 2010 Heroin Drug Trafficking Organization Dismantled Troop B – Yesterday, Louisiana State Police Troopers assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Task Force, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), New Orleans Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Kenner Police Department and St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office partnered together in an effort to serve numerous arrest and search warrants throughout the New Orleans Metropolitan Area. The joint operation resulted in ten (10) arrests and the seizure of twenty-one (21) grams of cocaine, sixteen (16) grams of crack cocaine, thirty-seven (37) grams of marijuana and four hundred and four (404) grams of heroin that has a street value of approximately $92,000.00. The warrants were a result of a HIDTA initiated investigation into a New Orleans area drug trafficking organization that was distributing substantial quantities of heroin. The following people were arrested: Terrance Young (B/M, age 30) of Metairie, LA, charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, outstanding warrants from Jefferson and Orleans Parishes Ricky Riley (B/M, age 32) of New Orleans, LA, charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin Ibrahim Khalil (O/M, age 38) of Metairie, LA, charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance Mohammad Khalil (O/M, age 32) of New Orleans, LA, charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance Tamer Khalil (O/M, age 28) of New Orleans, LA charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance Terrence Fields (B/M, age 27) of Baton Rouge, LA, charged with Possession with Intent to distribute Crack Cocaine and Marijuana Jamin Tobias (B/M, age 37) of New Orleans, LA, charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine Three (3) other arrests were made and their charges are being pursued by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The HIDTA program enhances and coordinates drug control efforts among local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies. The program provides agencies with coordination, equipment, technology, and additional resources to combat drug trafficking and its harmful consequences in critical regions of the United States. Partnerships between law enforcement agencies are a key component in the investigation, arrest and criminal prosecution of these types of organizations. Louisiana State Police will continue to support all law enforcement agencies in an effort to provide public safety to the citizens of Louisiana.
