Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 2, 2011 Louisiana State Police Seize Approximately $46,500 of Marijuana Troop B – Today, Louisiana State Police Troopers assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Task Force (HIDTA) and Amtrak Police arrested one male suspect at the Amtrak Train Station in New Orleans for possession of approximately 9 pounds of marijuana valued at over $4,500. Yesterday, troopers arrested a female suspect at an uptown residence, 924 Harmony Drive, New Orleans, for possession of approximately 12 pounds of high-grade marijuana valued at over $42,000. Today’s arrest involved HIDTA Troopers and Amtrak Police that were assigned to the train station for joint patrol operations. Investigators noticed the suspect, Patrick Bradshaw (B/M, age 31) of California, displaying extreme nervousness. Investigators spoke with the suspect who consented to a search of his luggage and the 9 pounds of marijuana was found in his carry-on baggage. Bradshaw was booked in the New Orleans Central Lock-up on a charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. Yesterday’s arrest was the result of an investigation that began when HIDTA troopers received information regarding a suspicious package mailed from California to New Orleans via the United Parcel Service of America (UPS). A narcotics detector dog alerted to the package and a search warrant was obtained, later revealing approximately 12 pounds of high-grade marijuana. The package was delivered to the uptown address and Jill Martin (W/F, age 51) of New York, was arrested and booked in the New Orleans Central Lock-Up on a charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program enhances and coordinates drug control efforts among local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies. The program provides agencies with coordination, equipment, technology, and additional resources to combat drug trafficking and its harmful consequences in critical regions of the United States.
