| TROOP A NEWS RELEASE September 26, 2016 Jackson Woman Dies in Single Vehicle Crash in East Feliciana Parish Jackson, LA – Shortly after 2:00 pm on September 26, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle crash on LA 68 south of LA 10 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 32 year old Amie McGraw of Jackson, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as McGraw was traveling southbound on LA 68 in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. For unknown reasons, McGraw’s vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and she overcorrected to the left. McGraw lost control of her vehicle and struck the guardrail on the northbound side of the roadway. McGraw’s vehicle became airborne after striking the guardrail and came to rest on its roof, partially submerged in a ravine. McGraw was properly restrained but sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner’s Office. McGraw’s passenger was also properly restrained and sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from McGraw for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
