Denham Springs – On November 11, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop “A” arrested two residents from Alabama for several offenses including narcotics charges. The arrests came after Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on I-12 in Livingston Parish. Shortly after 11:30 am on November 11th, Troopers observed a 2015 Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on I-12 near Denham Springs. Troopers attempted to stop the Altima for speeding, but the driver continued eastbound and exited I-12 on LA Hwy 1026 (Juban Rd.) and traveled north towards US Hwy 190. A short time later Troopers located the Altima in a parking lot on US Hwy 190 east of LA Hwy 1026. Upon locating the Altima Troopers observed two individuals exit the vehicle and flee on foot into a wooded area. After Troopers observed the two individuals flee on foot, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, Denham Springs Police Department and the Walker Police Department arrived on scene to assist Troopers in locating them. At this time Troopers learned that the Altima was a rental vehicle which had been reported stolen from Tennessee, and also located several items of drug paraphernalia in and around the vehicle. Utilizing a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office helicopter and canines, officers were able to locate and arrest the two subjects a short time after they fled the vehicle. The two individuals located by officers were Charles A. Goss-Richards (W/M, 21 years old from Foley, AL) and Amanda R. Atkins (W/F, 35 years old from Bon Secour, AL). Both were placed under arrest for Illegal possession of stolen things, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and Flight from an officer. Atkins was also placed under arrest for a narcotics related fugitive warrant out of Alabama. Both were transported to the Livingston Parish jail and booked on the above listed charges. Troopers suspect that a third unidentified individual may have fled the vehicle on foot as well.
