TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE April 29, 2013 Metairie Woman Killed in Crash on I-10 This afternoon, at approximately 12:50PM, Louisiana State Police Troop B was notified of a fatal crash on I-10 east at Causeway Boulevard. The crash involved a scooter and claimed the life of 44 year old Paula A. Noto of Metairie. Preliminary investigation revealed that Noto was driving a 2009 Citycom 300i scooter on the I-10 east on-ramp from Causeway Boulevard south. For unknown reasons, Noto lost control of the scooter and sideswiped the right concrete barrier. Noto was then ejected over the concrete barrier and landed in the left lane of I-10 east at Causeway Boulevard. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Noto was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Impairment and speed are not considered factors of the crash and the crash remains under investigation. Motorists should always ensure that their vehicle is in proper working order and all maintenance is up to date. Tires should be properly inflated and not worn and a check of all fluids should be completed on a regular basis. Ensure that you get to your destination safely by maintaining your vehicle, following all laws, driving sober and buckling up each and every time you get into the vehicle.
