TROOP A NEWS RELEASE November 12, 2014 Baton Rouge Man Killed in Single Vehicle Ascension Parish Crash Sorrento – Shortly after 5:15 am on November 26, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on I-10 west of LA Hwy 22 in Ascension Parish. The crash took the life of 27 year old Brandon Jamal Guillory of Baton Rouge. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Guillory was driving a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria eastbound on I-10 in the right hand lane. For unknown reasons the vehicle crossed over the left hand lane before running off the roadway to the left into the median. Upon doing so the Crown Victoria struck a tree head on. Despite the fact that he was properly restrained Guillory sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported from the scene by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales where he succumbed to his injuries. Impairment is not suspected at this time; however, a toxicology sample was taken from Guillory and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seat belt use, especially during a busy Thanksgiving holiday. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a motor vehicle crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Contact Information: | |||
