| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release January 12, 2013 Chalmette Man Killed in Crash in St. Bernard Parish This evening, at approximately 5:35 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to fatal crash in St. Bernard Parish on LA 46 at Coffee Drive. The crash claimed the life of a Chalmette, LA resident, Maxime Daboval Jr. (W/M, age 64). Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by Terry Dunn (W/M, age 60) of Columbia, MS, was traveling west on LA 46 in the right lane. The tractor-trailer was approaching the intersection at Coffee Drive and entered partially onto the right shoulder and began making a left turn through the median opening. A 1998 Honda motorcycle, driven by Maxime Daboval Jr, was also traveling west on LA 46 in the left lane and the tractor-trailer turned into the path of the motorcycle. Daboval struck the tractor-trailer and was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed and impairment are not considered factors of the crash, however toxicology results are pending for both drivers. Terry Dunn was arrested and booked at the St. Bernard Parish Jail for Negligent Homicide and Improper Turning. Troopers urge the public to remain vigilant while driving, never drive while fatigued, and avoid distracting activities, especially the temptations of electronic devices that can substantially divert a driver’s attention away from the road. Distraction, whether behind the wheel or as a pedestrian, decreases awareness and reaction time possibly leading to life changing consequences.
