Troopers Seek Hit and Run Vehicle which Struck a Construction Worker

Geismar At approximately 11:45 pm on November 21, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a hit and run crash involving a roadway construction worker that occurred on LA Hwy 30 west of LA Hwy 73 in Ascension Parish. The crash seriously injured a male worker in a roadway construction zone.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 38 year old Fredrick Mitchell of Baton Rouge was working in a construction zone on LA Hwy 30. At the same time, an unknown vehicle traveled westbound through a closed lane in the construction zone and struck Mitchell. Mitchell was transported from the scene to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with serious injuries. The unknown driver of the vehicle continued traveling westbound on LA Hwy 30 towards Baton Rouge.

Based off of evidence at the scene Troopers believe that the unknown vehicle may be a white or silver newer model Ford Mustang. The Mustang may have damage to the driver’s side, and will possibly be missing a driver’s side mirror. Witnesses also believe that the driver of the vehicle was a white male, and may have had a white female passenger with him at the time of the crash. This crash remains under investigation, and Troopers ask that anyone with any information regarding this crash please contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at 225-754-8500 or their local law enforcement agency.
