Troop B - NEWS RELEASE Bicyclist Killed in Crash on Airline Highway Troop B – This morning, at approximately 7:45 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to crash involving a bicyclist on US 61 (Airline Highway) at Arnoult Road. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Huffy Blaze bicycle, ridden by Teri Hunt (W/F, age 55) of Metairie, LA, was traveling north on Arnoult Road attempting to cross Airline Highway. Hunt crossed three lanes of US 61 south, then struck a 2001 Chevrolet pick-up on its passenger side, that was traveling in the left turn lane of US 61 south. The Chevrolet was pulling a box trailer and was operated by Elton Hollis (W/M, age 37) of Kenner, LA. Hunt was transported to Ochsner Medical Center and pronounced dead due to her injuries. Hollis voluntarily submitted to a breath test and troopers found no alcohol in his system. Toxicology results for Hunt are pending an autopsy. Bicyclists should always be aware of their surroundings and make sure to cross intersections and streets when it is safe to do so.
