TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE
April 2, 2012
Motorcyclist From LA 45 Crash Dies At Hospital

Around 4:45 PM yesterday afternoon, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 45 in Jefferson Parish where a man was ejected from his motorcycle and later died at the West Jefferson Hospital.

The investigation revealed that a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on LA 45 near Oak Forest. The motorcycle was being driven by Wade Dempster, (White/Male, D.O.B. 09/07/1973). For unknown reasons the motorcycle failed to negotiate a right curve and traveled off the road to the left. When the motorcycle struck a cement driveway Dempster was ejected from the motorcycle. Dempster, who was wearing a US D.O.T. helmet, was transported to West Jefferson Hospital where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Alcohol use is not suspected in the crash. Blood was taken from Dempster and the test results will be pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers remind motorists that driving at high speeds is dangerous, and often leads to serious injuries or death in motor vehicle crashes. Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts decrease your risk of serious injury or death.

Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
