TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE April 1, 2012 Motorcyclist Dies On I-10 Shortly before 5 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatality crash on I-10 eastbound at Bonnabel Blvd in Jefferson Parish where a man was ejected from his motorcycle and died on scene. The investigation revealed that a 2008 Triumph 675 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on I-10 in the right center lane. The motorcycle was being driven by Nicholas Miller, (White/Male, D.O.B. 01/14/1987) of Jefferson, LA. A 2006 Pontiac Torrent was also traveling eastbound on I-10 in the right center lane ahead of Miller. The Pontiac was being driven by Keosha Ludow (Indian/Female, D.O.B. 03/09/1983) of Tuskahoma, OK. As Miller approached the Pontiac he tried to change into the right eastbound lane of I-10. Miller struck the Pontiac in the rear, and was ejected from his motorcycle. Miller, who was not wearing a US D.O.T. helmet, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office. Speed and Alcohol may be a factor in the crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending on Miller. Ludow, who was wearing her seatbelt, received no injuries in the crash and was cleared of any alcohol involvement. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers remind motorists that driving at high speeds is dangerous, and often leads to serious injuries or death in motor vehicle crashes. Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts decrease your risk of serious injury or death. If you are pulled over by a police officer, remember to slow down and pull onto the right shoulder of the roadway or a safe location. Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police. | |||
