Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: September 3, 2012 Hazardous Materials at Stolthaven Facility in Braithwaite Troop B – The Louisiana State Police Hazardous Materials specialists are working in conjunction with the Department of Environmental Quality, United States Coast Guard, Stolthaven representatives, Louisiana National Guard and various remediation companies to assess the amount of various materials in the Stolthaven facility. Stolthaven does not have power and received significant damage as a result of Hurricane Isaac. A half mile evacuation from the facility has been put in effect. The evacuation is for those citizens north and south of the facility along the levee. It does not impact Mississippi River traffic or those citizens on the westbank. There is no immediate threat to the public. Several materials have been located and a plan to off load those materials is in effect. The materials are as follows:
