Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release November 17th, 2010 Troopers investigate Counterfeit Notes at Boomtown Casino Troop B – On August 21, 2010, Louisiana State Troopers assigned to the Bureau of Investigations Gaming Division began an investigation at the Boomtown Casino after the discovery of 28 counterfeit notes totaling $560.00. Through investigative measures, troopers were able to identify a male and female subject responsible for the transmission of the counterfeit bills to the casino. The subjects were identified as Roy Stevison (W/M age 42) and Brandy Rowell (W/F age 27) both of Carriere, MS. Subsequent to the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for both subjects for forgery and theft for presenting the 28 counterfeit notes. On November 10, 2010, Rowell was arrested in Bay St. Louis, MS for the above warrant during a traffic stop. She was then extradited on November 17th, 2010 back to Louisiana where she was interviewed by gaming detectives. Rowell was consequently arrested and booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on charges of forgery and theft related to the counterfeit notes. Louisiana State Troopers assigned to the Bureau of Investigations Gaming Division are responsible with the regulation of gaming and enforcement of criminal laws governing the state’s authorized gaming entities. Gaming Detectives promote the public's health, safety, and welfare by safeguarding the people of this state against corrupt and dishonest practices. The investigative division also provides professional services to ensure accurate revenue collection and the integrity of all gaming devices by enforcing compliance with all state laws.
