| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 8, 2010 Louisiana State Police Participate in Safe Driving Demonstration Troop B – On Tuesday, November 9, 2010 Louisiana State Police Troop B are participating in a safe driving demonstration at Children’s Hospital, 200 Henry Clay Avenue, New Orleans, from 10 AM – 11:30 AM. We are partnering with Ford Motor Company, Children’s Hospital and the LSU Public Interim Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center in an effort to educate the public on motor vehicle safety and current Louisiana laws. Attendees will get a firsthand look at how vehicle manufactures are building new safety technologies into their vehicles and how these technologies have the capability to keep occupants safer. The Christmas and New Year holiday season is quickly approaching and it brings families together across the state and across the country. It is a heavy traveled time of the year, and our highways are much more congested. Teen drivers account for the smallest number of drivers on our roads, however they account for the largest number of crashes. Impairment and distractions are the leading causes of fatality crashes among teenagers. This demonstration will not only focus on the crashes, but also the tragedies and injuries that hospital staff sees on a daily basis. The men and women of the Louisiana State Police are dedicated to ensuring public safety on our roadways. We will continue to enforce the laws and provide education to the public so they can make informed decisions while behind the wheel. **The community and media are invited to attend this event to get a firsthand look at the dangers unsafe driving poses to our teens and families.** For more information contact: Trooper Melissa Matey | |||
