Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 29, 2009 A Single Vehicle Crash Claims the Life of a Houma Man This morning shortly after 8:00 am, Troop B investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on I-310 which claimed the life of a Houma man. The crash occurred on Interstate 310 southbound, near milepost 2.5 in St. Charles Parish at approximately 8:10 am. The crash involved a 2006 Ford Expedition driven by Gordon E. Dove Jr. (W/M, 23 yrs), of Houma, LA. The Ford was traveling southbound on I-310 in the left lane at which time it suddenly veered to the left, striking the guardrail. After the initial impact with the left guardrail the vehicle traveled across the southbound lanes of I-310 and struck the right guardrail. Upon striking the right guardrail the vehicle overturned several times, partially ejecting the driver out of the rear cargo area, pinning him under the vehicle. As a result of the crash the driver, Dove suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed is considered a factor in the crash. Driver impairment is unknown at this time. (Result pending a toxicology examination.) Mr. Dove was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Trooper Ledoux is continuing his investigation.
