| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: January 13, 2009 Fatal Crash on I-310 in St. Charles Parish On Tuesday, January 13, 2009 shortly after 1:00 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on I-310, which claimed the life of an Orleans Parish resident. The crash occurred on I-310 northbound near milepost 1.6 at 1:18 pm. The crash involved a 1999 GMC Yukon driven by Joseph Ingolia (W/M, 57 yrs) of New Orleans, an unknown 18 wheeler, and a 2000 Ford pick-up driven by Lloyd Schoen (W/M, 51 yrs) of Ponchatoula. The GMC was traveling northbound on I-310 at which time for an unknown reason the driver veered to the left striking the side of an unknown 18 wheeler that did not stop. After the GMC struck the 18-wheeler, it traveled back into the right lane where it struck the Ford pick-up. The impact caused the rear wheels of the Ford to ride up onto the cement bridge rail. The Ford came to rest with its rear wheels on the bridge rail and its front wheels on the right shoulder. The GMC came to a stop next to the Ford pick-up. The driver, Ingolia was unresponsive and transported to Oschner Hospital in Kenner where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, Schoen suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention. Speed and driver impairment are not considered factors in the crash. However, it is believed that Mr. Ingolia’s health was factor in the crash. (Results pending an examination) Trooper Zimmerman is continuing his investigation.
