Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: December 8, 2008 Fatality Crash Involving a Motorcycle in St. John On Monday, December 08, 2008 at 2:30 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on U.S. 61 (Airline Hwy) at LA 53 (Central Ave) in St. John the Baptist Parish. The crash involved a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Kelly A. Taylor (B/F, 33 yrs), of Montz, LA and a 2004 Dodge Neon driven by Willie Mae Brignac (W/F, 72 yrs), of Reserve, LA. The Dodge was traveling northbound on U.S. 61 preparing to turn left onto LA 53 from the left turning lane. The Suzuki motorcycle was traveling southbound on U.S. 61 in the left lane. The Dodge proceeded to turn left attempting to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. 61, entering the path of the Suzuki motorcycle. The Suzuki motorcycle then struck the passenger side of the Dodge ejecting the driver from the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to River Parish Hospital where she was pronounced dead. It is unknown at this time if speed and driver impairment are factors in the crash. (Results pending a toxicology examination.) Charges are pending further investigation. Trooper Maumus is continuing his investigation.
