Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: December 5, 2008 ***Update*** On Saturday, December 6, 2008 Troop B received a phone call in reference to the victim described in the below press release. The caller stated that her brother had been missing for two days. Upon further investigation, the victim/pedestrian was positively identified as Mr. Charlie W. Brown (W/M, 59 yrs) of Metairie, LA. Fatal Crash Involving a Pedestrian in East Jefferson On Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 8:30 PM Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on U.S. 90 (Jefferson Hwy) at the intersection of LA 611-3 (Shrewsbury Road). The crash involved a 2000 Buick Century driven by Mr. Robert A. Middleton (W/M, 73 yrs), of Metairie, LA and an unidentified W/M pedestrian. The Buick was traveling eastbound on U.S. 90 at which time it entered the intersection of U.S. 90 and Shrewsbury Road with the green traffic signal. While the Buick was entering the intersection the unidentified pedestrian, who was walking southbound in the intersection entered the path of the Buick and was struck. Even though the pedestrian was inside of the crosswalk at the time of the crash, he did not have the green traffic control to cross the intersection. The pedestrian was transported to University Hospital in critical condition. On Friday, December 5, 2008 at 4:09 AM, Troop B was informed that the unidentified W/M pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries. Speed and driver impairment are not suspected factors in the crash. Trooper Matey is continuing her investigation.
