Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: October 14, 2009 Hit and Run Fatality Crash Involving a Pedestrian in Laplace Troop B- This morning shortly before 6:00 am, Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a Hit and Run Fatality crash involving a pedestrian on U.S 61 and Belle Point Blvd in Laplace. The crash occurred at 5:45 am at the intersection of U.S. 61 (Airline Hwy) and Belle Point Blvd. The crash involved a light colored pick-up and an African American female pedestrian. The pick-up was traveling northbound on U.S 61 in the left lane. The pedestrian was crossing U.S 61 from north to south (Interstate side to the river side). According to a witness, the pedestrian stepped directly into the path of the light colored pick-up at which time she was struck. The pick-up continued northbound on U.S 61 without stopping. The pedestrian whose identity is unknown at this time was transported to River Parishes Hospital where she was pronounced dead. State Police is asking anyone with any information about the crash or the whereabouts of the light colored pick-up to contact Troop B at 504.471.2775. For more information contact: Sgt.
