| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date September 30, 2009 ***Traffic Advisory*** The Huey P. Long Bridge Traveling from the Westbank to the Eastbank is closed Troop B- The Huey P. Long Bridge will be closed this morning for those motorists traveling from the westbank to the eastbank. This morning at 3:00 am, an 18-wheeler transporting approximately 5600 gallons of Creosote overturned on U.S. 90 eastbound at LA 18 (River Rd) while trying to negotiate a turn, causing it spill its product onto the roadway. The driver of the 18-wheeler suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to West Jefferson Hospital . The crash has closing the Huey P. Long Bridge for all traffic traveling from the westbank to the eastbank. All traffic approaching the West Traffic Circle will be diverted onto LA 18 to Nine Mile Point Road. The State Police are asking motorist to avoid the area and make necessary adjustment to their morning commute while to road way is being cleared. Alternate routes that motorist can utilize are the Crescent City Connection and I-310 in Luling. .
