Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: August 29, 2009 ***UPDATE*** Troop B- On Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 5:00 pm, Louisiana State Police and St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office apprehended Carnell Randle in the 100 block of Joe Parquet Circle, (Scene of the incident). Randle was taken into custody without incident and booked at the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office Lock-up. ***UPDATE*** Troop B- During the course of the investigation it was learned that on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 11:30 am, Louisiana State Police and St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents were conducting a joint undercover narcotics investigation in the Joe Parquet Circle area of Laplace. During the course of the investigation, four black male suspects approached the Trooper who was sitting in a vehicle in front of 147 Joe Parquet Circle. During a brief conversation, one suspect brandished and pointed a handgun while Neon Narcisse assaulted the Trooper during an armed robbery. A struggle ensued and the Trooper was able to draw his weapon, fire several shots at the armed suspect and take cover. Two of the suspects were struck by gunfire while the other two suspects fled the scene. Upon Derrick Dennis being released into police custody from River Parishes Hospital, Dennis resisted arrest and fled out of the hospital where he was immediately apprehended. The following suspects were arrested and booked at the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office Lock-up: Neon Narcisse: Attempted First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Distribution of a Schedule II CDS (Cocaine) and Simple Battery. Derrick Dennis: Armed Robbery, Distribution of a Schedule II CDS (Cocaine), Resisting Arrest and Simple Escape An Arrest warrant has been issued for Carnell Randle for Armed Robbery and Distribution of a Schedule II CDS (Cocaine). The Louisiana State Police is asking anyone who has information as to the whereabouts of Randle to contact the Louisiana State Police, Troop B at 504.471.2775 (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO). Trooper Involved Shooting in Laplace Troop B - Late this morning in Laplace, a Louisiana State Trooper was involved in a shooting incident after being assaulted my numerous suspects during a narcotics investigation. On Friday, August 28, 2009 at 11:30 am, Louisiana State Police and St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents were conducting a joint undercover narcotics investigation in the Joe Parquet Circle area of Laplace. During the course of the investigation, four black male suspects approached the Trooper who was sitting in a vehicle in front of 147 Joe Parquet Circle. During a brief conversation, one of the suspects brandished and pointed a handgun while another suspect assaulted the Trooper. A struggle ensued and the Trooper was able to draw his weapon, fire several shots at the armed suspect and take cover. Two of the suspects were struck by gunfire while the other two suspects fled the scene. The Trooper was treated and released by River Parishes Hospital. Jeremiah Randle (B/M, 20 y/o, of Laplace) suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at River Parishes Hospital. Derrick Dennis (B/M, 26 y/o) was injured and transported to River Parishes Hospital where he was treated and released into police custody. The other two suspects, Neon Narcisse (B/M, 20 y/o) and Alonzo Narcisse (B/M, 23 y/o) fled the scene and later turned themselves into the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is on going at this time. Further information and charges will be released as it is obtained.
