Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 13, 2009 ***UPDATE*** Serious Injury Crash in St. Bernard Parish Involving a Pedestrian On Friday May 15, 2009 the female pedestrian Lisa K. Bullington (W/F, 38 yrs) of Hudson Falls, New York succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 11:41 AM. The case will be turned over to the St. Bernard District Attorney’s Office for the review of additional charges on the driver. Today at 3:00 PM the Louisiana State Police investigated a serious injury crash in St. Bernard Parish involving a St. Bernard Parish dump-truck and a pedestrian. The crash occurred on LA 39 (Judge Perez Drive) at its intersection with Campagna Drive. The crash involved a dump-truck driven by Norman H. Crawford (W/M, 52 yrs) of Chalmette and 37 year old, white female pedestrian. The dump-truck was traveling southbound on Campagna Drive at its intersection with LA 39 with the green traffic signal. The dump-truck then attempted to turn left onto LA 39 southbound when for an unknown reason the driver failed to observe the female pedestrian in the crosswalk, walking northbound across LA 39. It was at this time the dump-truck struck the pedestrian. The female pedestrian was transported to Louisiana State University Interim Trauma Center, where she is listed in critical condition. The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld pending proper notification. Neither driver impairment nor speed is considered factors in the crash. The driver of the dump-truck, Crawford was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Senior Trooper Volante is continuing his investigation.
