Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: October 31, 2008 Fatal Crash on U.S. 61 near LA 626 On Friday, October 31, 2008 at 11:15 am, Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on U.S. 61 near LA 626 (St. Rose Ave) in St. Charles Parish. The crash involved a 2001 Ford F250 pick up driven by Mr. Mitchell D. Edwards (W/M, 31 yrs), of Tylertown, Ms. The Ford was traveling southbound on U.S. 61 in the left lane at which time for an unknown reason the driver traveled over the grassy median crossing the northbound lanes of U.S. 61, continuing beyond the shoulder. Once on the shoulder the Ford side swiped a tree and entered the “Borrow Canal” where the vehicle became fully submerged. Speed is not considered a factor in the crash. Driver impairment is unknown at this time, but not suspected. (Results pending a toxicology examination.) The investigating trooper observed no signs of braking or any attempt to take evasive action on the part of the driver. A possible medical condition is suspected (Results pending a medical examination) Trooper Brue is continuing his investigation.
