Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: October 21, 2009 ***Update*** Hit and Run Fatality Crash Involving a Pedestrian in Laplace Troop B- Louisiana State Police, Troop B is asking the public for their assistance in locating and identifying the vehicle involved in a fatal Hit and Run crash that occurred on October 14, 2009 at 5:45 am on U.S. 61 (Airline Hwy) and Belle Point Rd in Laplace. Further information received from surveillance video and evidence on the scene identified the vehicle as a dark colored 1994 to 1998 Ford Mustang. Anyone with information pertaining to the whereabouts or identity of the vehicle and driver is asked to contact Louisiana State Police, Troop B at 504.471.2775 or toll free from their cellular phone at *LSP (*577). Hit and Run Fatality Crash Involving a Pedestrian in Laplace Troop B- This morning shortly before 6:00 am, Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a Hit and Run Fatality crash involving a pedestrian on U.S 61 and Belle Point Blvd in Laplace. The crash occurred at 5:45 am at the intersection of U.S. 61 (Airline Hwy) and Belle Point Blvd. The crash involved a light colored pick-up and an African American female pedestrian. The pick-up was traveling northbound on U.S 61 in the left lane. The pedestrian was crossing U.S 61 from north to south (Interstate side to the river side). According to a witness, the pedestrian stepped directly into the path of the light colored pick-up at which time she was struck. The pick-up continued northbound on U.S 61 without stopping. The pedestrian whose identity is unknown at this time was transported to River Parishes Hospital where she was pronounced dead. State Police is asking anyone with any information about the crash or the whereabouts of the light colored pick-up to contact Troop B at 504.471.2775. For more information contact: Sgt.
