| NEWS RELEASE LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: February 16th, 2008 On Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 11:34 AM, Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a fatality crash on U.S. 61 northbound near Prospect Street in Norco, LA. The crash involved a 2000 Ford Mustang driven by Gene I. Fryoux Jr. (W/M, 39 yrs), of Montz, LA. The Mustang was traveling northbound on U.S 61 in the left lane at a high rate of speed at which time the driver, for an unknown reason lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle then exited the left side of the roadway and traveled onto the raised median. The driver then swerved to the right crossing the northbound lanes of U.S. 61 exiting the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then entered the canal parallel to the roadway at which time the vehicle was completely submerged. Mr. Fryoux was unable to escape from his vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene. It is unknown at this time if driver impairment was a factor in the crash. However, speed is considered a factor. Senior Trooper Rickmeier is continuing his investigation. | |||
