| NEWS RELEASE LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: February 14th, 2008 State Police Arrest a Metairie Man for Possession of Child Pornography In November of 2007 the Louisiana State Police Special Crimes Unit met with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in regards to a child pornography investigation. During the course of the investigation it was learned that Philip Vaz (W/M, 42 yrs), of Metairie, LA had subscribed to a website that offered the sale of child pornography images. Upon further investigation, the Louisiana State Police were able to obtain a search warrant for Mr. Vaz’s residence in Metairie at which time computers and various electronics were seized. A forensic examination of the seized computers and computer related hardware was conducted and 61 child pornography movies and over 300 still images of child pornography were seized. An arrest warrant was then issued for Mr. Vaz. On Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 08:00 AM members of the State Police Special Crimes Unit, State Police South District Detectives and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents executed the arrest warrant for Mr. Vaz’s near his home in Metairie. Mr. Vaz was arrested without incident and booked at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center with violating LRS 14:81.1 (Pornography Involving Juveniles). | |||
