| NEWS RELEASE LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: April 13th, 2008 Fatal Crash in St. John Parish On Sunday, April 13th, 2008 at 3:50 PM, Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 628 just east of LA 636-1, in Laplace. The crash involved a 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by a W/M and a 2006 Chevrolet pick-up driven by Doris Laurent, of Laplace. The Kawasaki was traveling eastbound on LA 628 at which time it entered a curve in the roadway. The driver lost control of the motorcycle and crossed the center line at which time the motorcycle slid on its side underneath the Chevrolet pick-up. The Chevrolet which was traveling westbound on LA 628 rolled over the motorcycle and the driver as it slid under the vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle, whose name is being withheld pending proper notification, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed is not considered a factor in this crash. Driver impairment on part of the driver of the motorcycle is unknown at this time. (Results pending a toxicology examination.). NOTE: Driver impairment is not a factor on Mr. Laurent’s part.
