Four Vehicle Fatal Crash in St. John Parish

On Sunday April 20th, 2008 at 20:47 PM, Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a four vehicle fatal crash on I-55 northbound at milepost 14. The crash involved a 2007 Toyota driven by Mr. Alex George Jr. (B/M, 45 yrs) of Buras, a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Mr. Martin Davison (W/M, 43 yrs) of Kenner, a 2004 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up driven by Ms. Tiffany Monteleone (W/F, 19 yrs) of Covington, and a 1998 Ford Expedition driven by Mr. David Pittman (W/M, 49 yrs) of Hammond. The Toyota was traveling northbound on I-55 in the left lane and the other vehicles involves were stopped on I-55 northbound in the left lane. This was due to an earlier crash that was in the process of being investigated and cleared. The Toyota struck the rear of the Nissan forcing it into the rear of the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet was then forced into the rear of the Ford. After impact the Toyota and the Nissan were engulf in flames. The occupants of the Toyota and the Nissan were removed by several bystanders on the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, Mr. George was air lifted to North Oaks Hospital and is listed in stabile condition. The driver of the Nissan, Mr. Martin Davison was pronounced dead on the scene.

The following were transported from the scene:

A.) The driver of the Chevrolet S-10, Ms. Monteleone was transported to River Parishes Hospital and is listed in good condition.
B.) A passenger inside the Nissan, Mrs. Irina Davison wife of the driver (W/F, 43 yrs) was transported to River Parishes Hospital and is listed in stabile condition.
Driver impairment and speed are suspected factors on the part of Mr. George. (Results pending a toxicology examination.)

Trooper Desalvo is continuing his investigation.
