TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 2, 2008 Fugitive Featured on the “America’s Most Wanted” Television Show is Apprehended in New Orleans On Friday, May 2nd, 2008 at 8:00 AM, Louisiana State Police, South District Detectives working with the U.S. Marshal’s Office and the F.B.I. arrested Mr. Robert Thomas Franks on a warrant from the Honolulu Police Department for “Felony Violation of Privacy”. A review of the Honolulu Police Department's report revealed that Franks hid a small surveillance camera in a clock radio in the bathroom of his residence, and was secretly videotaping his young stepdaughters while they undressed, showered and used the bathroom. Franks fled Hawaii to an unknown location and remained on the run for approximately one year providing numerous false addresses as he continued to evade authorities. Further investigation revealed that Franks was possibly in the New Orleans metropolitan area working at a construction site at 5010 Leroy Johnson. Louisiana State Police, South District Detectives with the assistance of the U.S Marshal’s Office and the F.B.I conducted a surveillance of the location and observed Franks on the site at which time he was arrested without incident and booked accordingly at the Orleans Parish Lock-up. The Honolulu Police Department was notified of Franks arrest and is in the process of coordinating his extradition with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. Robert Franks was featured on the “America’s Most Wanted” television show as well as other media outlets.
