Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 3, 2008 Single Vehicle Fatal Crash in West Jefferson On Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 11:25 hrs, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on U.S. 90-B near Nine Mile Point Rd, in Jefferson Parish. The crash involved a 2003 Ford Focus driven by Rachel Grafe (W/F, 19 yrs) of Avondale, LA. The Ford was traveling westbound on U.S. 90-B at a high rate of speed at which time the driver (Grafe) changed lanes and lost control of her vehicle. The Ford then left the right side of the roadway and traveled 124 feet striking the cement over pass support structure of U.S. 90. Because of the crash, Ms. Grafe suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed is considered a factor in the crash. It is unknown at this time if driver impairment is a factor. (Result pending a toxicology examination.) Ms. Grafe was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Senior Trooper Thompson is continuing his investigation.
