| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 6, 2008 Fatal Crash on U.S. 61 in East Jefferson On Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at 12:29 AM, Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a fatal crash on U.S. 61 (Airline Hwy) northbound at Manson Ave. The crash involved a Chevrolet Corvette driven by Mr. Daniel J. Haar III (W/M, 44 yrs) of Mandeville and a U.P.S 18 wheeler driven by Lionel Herbert (B/M, 55 yrs) of Zachary. The Corvette was traveling northbound on U.S. 61 at a high rate of speed at which time it ran into the rear of the U.P.S 18 wheeler. The U.P.S 18 wheeler was also traveling northbound on U.S 61 at the time of impact. The driver of the Corvette, Mr. Haar suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed is a factor in the crash on the part of Mr. Haar. Driver impairment is unknown at this time (results pending a toxicology examination). The driver of the U.P.S 18 wheeler, Mr. Herbert sustained minor injuries in the crash. Mr. Herbert was not impaired nor cited in the crash. Trooper J. Martinez is continuing his investigation.
